The anniversary meeting of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO

On April 4, 2023, the anniversary meeting of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO dedicated to the 30th anniversary of this structure and to the assessment of implementation of the UNESCO Medium-Term Strategy in Kazakhstan was held in Almaty.

Chairman of the National Commission for UNESCO and ISESCO in Kazakhstan, State Advisor of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ye.T. Karin said that the meeting is reporting activities of the National Commission for 2021-2022 and paid special attention to the problem of preserving UNESCO objects in our country, and also informed all participants about the expected important event for Kazakhstan, the visit of UNESCO Director-General Ms. Audrey Azoulay.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Central Asian Regional Glaciological Center under the auspices of UNESCO, Professor Balykbayev Takir Ospanovich.

 

The Secretary General of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO in Kazakhstan and the moderator of the meeting Baisabayeva Aliya Gazizovna delivered welcome speech.

At the meeting, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Higher of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yergaliyev K.A. made a report and informed the participants of the meeting about the Concept for the Development of Higher Education and Science in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2029 developed by the Ministry and presented the main results of the work.

The Vice Minister informed the participants about the creation in May 2021 in Kazakhstan of the only in the world Central Asian Regional Glaciological Center under the auspices of UNESCO and that, for the fruitful work of this Center, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan provides the required funding.

The State Advisor of the Republic of Kazakhstan raised the issue of providing the Centre with its own building and instructed to urgently resolve the question.

The participants of the event discussed topical issues that need to be developed in the field of science and education, culture, information and communication, and it was decided to implement these projects, create experimental sites that will closely interact with UNESCO organizations
