Laboratory of natural hazards
Laboratory of natural hazards was created on the basis of the laboratory of natural hazards of the Institute of Geography and Water Security. The laboratory of natural hazards consists of 4 employees, 3 of them work at the mountain station "Big Almaty Lake". Head of the laboratory is candidate of geographical sciences Ranova Sandugash Usenovna. She is the author and co-author of more than 30 scientific articles, as well as a set of maps of special content; certified teacher of GIS, participated in creation of the National Atlas of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main direction of research of the laboratory of natural hazards is study of the laws of formation, distribution of dangerous exogenous processes (avalanches, mudflows, landslides, and rock falls) and their impact to the mountainous regions of Kazakhstan.
